One of my favorite tasks to do as a teacher was to give students quotes (either related to the text that we were studying or ones I had found from nowhere) and to get them to explore what they meant to them.

Often we would use these quotes as a springboard for creative writing. When later I got into explicitly teaching growth mindset, I’d also use quotes for students to help them engage with the ideas we were discussing.
